Currently, international students in the UK face dual challenges of intensive academic workload and time management. To save time, they often opt to purchase large quantities of ingredients at once, but due to lack of effective management, ingredients are frequently forgotten or expire. This leads to both economic losses and impacts on healthy eating habits. In response to this issue, I developed the Chillet application, which rebuilds the connection between people and their refrigerators through digital means. The application features intuitive visual design and smart reminder functions to help users monitor their refrigerator contents in real-time, effectively preventing food waste while fostering better food management habits.
During student life abroad, cooking and shopping have become essential components of maintaining daily life. Through background research, it's evident that many international students face significant challenges when dealing with these daily tasks. Although they recognize the importance of managing ingredients, lack of experience and time management issues often lead to food spoilage and waste. This phenomenon not only affects their quality of life and financial expenditure but also reflects the practical challenges international students face while adapting to life overseas, making it particularly necessary to develop a solution that helps international students better manage their food ingredients.
