I chose to observe people on the lawn in front of Winchester Cathedral. During the three hours of observation, I took one hour to do data statistics. Because Winchester Cathedral is a very important building in Winchester, many people like to hang out here. I started observing at 11:30, so there was a lot of people here.
I mainly divide the people here into four categories, they are "People who take their kids out", "People with dogs", "People who play sports" and "Picnickers". Of course, I also caught a lot of people doing other things, such as cyclists, tourists and people who come here to take pictures. I make this data into a statistical table, and we can see that "People who take their kids out" and "People with dogs" account for the highest proportion. But in general, people come here to relax and enjoy life, and I rarely see people in a bad mood here.
During these three hours, I saw a family happily eating lunch, a pregnant mother playing with her child, a father and daughter sitting on a sculpture for a long time, a couple walking their dog, etc. I recorded their stories with my paintbrush.
This is part of the story I observed during the three hours I spent here. I found that everyone here was very positive and happy. I had never observed people in this way before. This observation made me notice the connection between the people around me and the surrounding environment, and also made me more aware of the interaction between the environment and people.
