Through my observations at HMV, I realised how public spaces foster connections between people. The lively interactions of people of different ages, backgrounds and interests who find their own space here, from music lovers browsing through records to casual conversations, create a shared sense of community. What struck me most was how these brief and serendipitous interactions created a palpable collective experience. This experience made me reflect on how design can not only fulfil functional needs, but also encourage meaningful interactions to make spaces more inviting and inclusive.
