The aim of this project is to explore the interaction between user behaviour and the environment by
observing crowd activity in public places. I chose a platform at Winchester Railway Station for three
hours of observation to record data on passenger behaviour, crowd composition, facility usage and
crowd dynamics. This information was analysed to understand the impact of environmental design on
crowd behaviour and to provide insights into user experience design.
After completing the observation project at Winchester Railway Station, I gained a deeper
understanding of crowd behaviour and interaction in public spaces. Through prolonged observation, I
was able to get a real sense of the emotional responses and behavioural patterns of passengers in
different contexts.
Overall, this project helped me to practice my observation skills, the accuracy of data recording and
how to extract valuable information from details, and I will pay more attention to careful observation
and in-depth analysis in similar projects in the future.
