This work examines the emotional damage inflicted under “self-sacrificial” parenting in some Chinese households. By recording critical remarks and reenacting them through symbolic performances, it translates verbal aggression into a physical imprint on the child’s body. In doing so, “Sound on My Body” challenges conventional notions of parental devotion and amplifies the child’s perspective, highlighting the profound impact of words.
